AAMW sponsored the first Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Family Day Celebration over 20 years ago to celebrate the life & teachings of Dr. King. This event became the largest of its kind in Westchester, & indeed the northeast, attracting over 5,000 people over the years from every walk of life to keep Dr. King’s message of service to mankind alive. Currently we focus young people in the county who have demonstrated a commitment to the teachings of Dr. King (& the event was renamed The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Youth Awards). Over 500 people attend this event and over to honor 120 young people have received Legacy Youth Awards since the program’s inception.
